I'm Joey Rushfield.

I'm a portrait, wedding, elopement, and mitzvah photographer from Rockville, serving the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area. My goal as a photographer is to tell a story with each image that transports you back and lets you feel the moment again.

Outside of photography, I have worked in childcare for over seven years, holding degrees in both elementary education and photography. I'm grateful that my roles help me continue my learning every day. Let's connect so I can learn about you and your vision!

Some fun facts/conversation starters about me:


  • I was born and raised in Montgomery County, living in Clarksburg until 2003, when my family moved to Rockville. I've been here ever since and absolutely love it!
  • I have ADHD -- very noticeably -- and you'll learn to love the quirks that this gives me on our shoots (yes, I will call out every time I see a dog)
  • My favorite shows of all time are The Office, Law and Order: SVU, and Arcane, and I've watched each of them an embarrassing number of times
  • I started out as a concert photographer, mostly working in the rock music scene
  • Speaking of concerts, my favorite concert I ever attended was Warped Tour 2016 at the Scranton, PA date
  • My favorite musical is Dear Evan Hansen and I will happily belt the lyrics with you if you know them
  • I always have at least two drinks with me while I'm working: water (for hydration) and something "fun" (usually matcha or coffee!)
