meet the person behind the lens
Nice to meet you! I'm Joey.
I'm a fine art portrait and documentary wedding photographer specializing in timeless, creative images. Creating genuine and authentic images of others' love -- love for themselves and for others -- is most possible when you have a strong sense of what you love: what you care for in your interests and what you adore about yourself. Come learn about me, then tell me about you. Let's get to know each other!

Why Montgomery County, Maryland?
I've lived in MoCo my whole life and there is no other place I'd rather call home! I currently reside off Rockville Pike and am well-versed in the best photoshoot locations for portrait sessions in Montgomery County, both the well-known classics like Glenview Mansion, Brookside Gardens, and Great Falls, as well as hidden gems like Wall Park and Rollins Congressional Club's forest scenery. Between our elegant nature scenes, historic settings, and walkable town centers that sit close together, MoCo has high variety in scenery options without long travel from location to location. I plan each session around light, season, and the character of the setting so your photographs feel grounded, personal, and timeless.
In the wonderful world of wedding photography in Montgomery County, MD, we have similarly excellent, diverse list of options. Some excellent nature-forward locations make a second appearance, such as Brookside Gardens and Glenview Mansion, and our the Montgomery County Circuit Court in Rockville makes for some excellent courthouse wedding photos. MoCo definitely leans into more rustic wedding venues, too, with standouts like Milton Ridge, Woodend Sanctuary and Mansion, and The Mansion at Strathmore. With proximity to DC, Baltimore, Frederick, and Northern Virginia, too, It's no wonder I'd never move away!
I serve locations across the county, with clients frequently coming from Rockville, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Potomac, Wheaton, Silver Spring, Olney, and Germantown.

FAQ
Where in Montgomery County do you serve?
I serve across the county, with clients frequently coming from Rockville, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Potomac, Wheaton, Silver Spring, Olney, and Germantown.
Do you travel outside of Montgomery County for weddings?
I do! I'm happy to travel to Northern Virginia, DC, Frederick, and Baltimore.
What is your editing style?
I edit photos with a distinctive, yet flexible style that somehow finds the best of three worlds. With contrasty tones, a moody, yet true-to-color feel, and bright but full-bodied details, my editing style is built to highlight emotion -- all with a film-like, timeless twist.
Every photo you receive is hand-edited. I use tools like presets to get to a starting point to ensure stylistic consistency, but each photo gets a ton of love and care once it's been given its initial treatment. My goal is to make each photo look cinematic and full of emotion.
Do you help select portrait locations?
If you need help, I'm happy to suggest locations based on lighting, accessibility, and the overall feel you want.
What is your inclement weather policy?
If the weather doesn't cooperate on the day of an outdoor shoot, we can discuss alternatives such as rescheduling the session or finding an indoor location. We want to ensure the best possible outcome for your photos, and we're flexible in adapting to unforeseen circumstances.
Do Montgomery County parks require photography permits?
Some locations do. I help guide clients through any requirements when needed.
What is your favorite Montgomery County portrait location?
There are so many great spots that this would be a hard question... if Glenview Mansion didn't exist! It's easily my favorite location for its rustic look, versatile scenery, and the close proximity between locations on-site.
