The Annapolis Courthouse is a beautiful intimate wedding venue, and this wedding was no exception. Most weddings at the Anne Arundel County Courthouse are (how can they not be in downtown Annapolis?) but this one had the *vibes,* too. The bride and groom had beautiful vows. Skyler’s giddy jumping after being officially married was ADORABLE. After the ceremony, we walked outside and a family member led the group in a traditional Cherokee blanket and fire ceremony before we paused for family photos. After family photos concluded, we spent some time exploring downtown Annapolis for portraits.
One thing I love about courthouse weddings is the flexibility. If we’re getting great photos and everyone is having fun, we can keep going. If you’d rather head to lunch with family, that’s okay too. The timeline is built around your day, not the other way around. In this case, Skyler and Sam wanted to spend more time with family, so we kept the portrait session fairly brief — but I still absolutely love what we got.
On a personal note, sometimes I walk away from a courthouse wedding feeling like I absolutely nailed it. The adrenaline of the rapid fire ceremony combined with the nonstop stimulation of going straight into family photos can make it hard to maintain an engaged conversation throughout without hyper-focusing on one of the tasks at hand. This was one of those times, and it was exhilarating. I felt like I was a great entertainer on top of nailing every shot. That’s the key to knowing I had an excellent day — and the photos speak for themselves!
